ROCK ‘N ROYAL Brit Bridal Fashion Photo Shoot Boston, MA
by Val on Feb.02, 2011, under Portrait, Wedding & Engagement
Hey folks,
I’ve got something really exciting for you this time. It starts with a well-known green wedding business in Boston, MA, called SEAMS and specializing in custom hand made bridal fashion. Through the use of natural fibers and organic materials they can make your dream wedding dress a reality for you. Their owner, Harper Della-Piana has created costumes for Batman Forever, Spin City, Saturday Night Live, and The Late Show with David Letterman, Martha Stewart Living Magazine, Victoria’s Secret, Max Factor, among others …WOW!
I was recently approached by Harper with the idea to photograph some of her latest creations, two British Royal-themed bridal dresses. To the already off-the-beaten-path idea we added some punk-rock flavor, threw in a bit of snowy New England outdoor charm, and boy, what a TOTAL BLAST we had taking the actual photos!
The team was joined by Amanda Wilkes with her make up magic, and man, what an amazing job she did… absolutely breathtaking. Brides, don’t forget to check out the contact info below. Amanda is a HOT HOT HOT ticket!
There are models, and then there is Miss Q. What can I say… I can’t really say much, lol :) From the very beginning to the very end… so many creative directions, and so many reincarnations… she nailed absolutely every single one of them. With a bang. I am so happy to get to know her. And from my perspective now, I really couldn’t think of a better person for something like this. Miss Q ROCKS! Hats off.
…Enough talk. Time to see the goodies. Here we go:

Fun Modeling Photo Session with Markie – New Britain CT
by Val on Oct.04, 2010, under Portrait
A few weeks ago Markie called me on the phone and asked if I’d be game for something not directly wedding related. “Sure”, I said, “I am totally in, let’s do it!”
Markie needed a couple of new photos to freshen up her model portfolio. We picked Walnut Hill Park in New Britain, CT to be our location and went there one day late in the afternoon. The light was just perfect for what we needed – warm and soft. We chose a couple of big trees for props and protection from the sun’s direct rays, then moved to a bench near the fountain on top of the park, then to another place, and another one, and another one. Boy, what an absolute blast we had shooting this session. Need I mention how gorgeous Markie was!?
Last, but definitely not least, I wanted to give my HUGE kudos to the girls at Naomi’s Studio & Salon (SalonNaomi.com) for the fantastic job they did with Markie’s hair and makeup – I can’t say enough good words about it. We could not have made it without you, you guys rock! Totally awesome!

2009 Wedding Photography GOLD COLLECTION
by Val on Jan.03, 2010, under Wedding & Engagement
2009 was a great year for me. I had some unique opportunities – both in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and on the other side of the Atlantic – thanks to all my brides who gave me the chance to photograph their most important day. It’s been such an honor – a little piece of my heart was left at each of your weddings.
As a CT wedding photographer I try to be unique – in a number of ways. But one thing that clearly sets me apart from all other CT wedding photographers is the environmental cause I strongly support. My clients have been raving about my green sessions. As a result Valdorama GREEN is set to grow stronger and gain further popularity in 2010 – and I am super excited about that. In addition, I have other awesome product & service updates in the works, so be sure to keep an eye on this blog (you can subscribe for new posts – look in the upper right section on this page).
Looking back through 2009, I tried to make a rough selection of some of my favorite images. I never thought this could be such a challenging task – there were so many photos I absolutely LOVE. I chose a mix of shots that show a little bit of everything – the out of this world bridal beauty, the breathtaking environment, the unforgettable emotions, the little details, the amazing decor, the dances, the guests – the list goes on and on. I named these The 2009 GOLD COLLECTION. Many of them will be displayed on the main web site, in Valdorama albums and video materials, and will accompany me at trade shows, public appearances, photo workshops. Congratulations to all of you whose photos I selected – you’ve been absolutely FANTASTIC. Cheers!

2009 PDN Photo Plus – New York City
by Val on Oct.29, 2009, under General
Hi folks & Happy Friday!
OK, I admit, I’ve been undercover for a while. It’s been really busy the last couple of weeks.
Part of the craziness was PDN Photo Plus Conference and Expo in New York City last week. Some folks have been asking me lately about PDN and what it’s all about. In short, it is the biggest yearly event in the photo world – between 20 000 and 30 000 visitors. It is a really cool place to see what is new in the industry, meet with friends, make new ones, network with other photographers, vendors, and so much more. And the conference – it’s worth every single penny. Hands down, I have learned so much from these classes that I don’t know where I would be without that knowledge.
Yesterday afternoon I had a chance to sit down in front of the computer and quickly edit the clips I captured last Saturday with my little point & shoot Fuji (it’s always a great idea to have one of these in your pocket). Here’s the final video.
Excited? Heck, I am!
Niki & Eli’s Wedding Story – pt. II – Another One of “Those” Sessions
by Val on Sep.08, 2009, under Wedding & Engagement
After Niki’s 15 minutes of fame trashing his tie, myself and Eli moved on to what we really came here for.
Kamen Bryag, our green location of choice, 43.437293, 28.545753, is a remote, wild and untouched area in Northeastern Bulgaria known for its high cliffs, gorgeous scenery and Medieval legends. Some of you might have heard about the full solar eclipse in Europe a couple of years ago, best seen from Kamen Bryag. Either way, this is an absolutely mesmerizing place, definitely worth checking out and exploring in deep.
This session is a perfect example of what can be done after the wedding without necessarily “trashing the dress”. And speaking of FUN, man, we had the time of our lives!

Trashing the… Tie!
by Val on Sep.07, 2009, under Wedding & Engagement
Everybody trashes their dress. But trashing the dress ain’t that cool anymore. And since at this wedding we already had a tradition of doing many things differently, we decided that instead of trashing the dress we should do something else. Like trashing the groom’s tie – how about that?
So trash the tie we did.
Here we go:
