Let There Be Glam!

by Val on Nov.23, 2010, under General, Portrait

These days I had the opportunity to review some long forgotten photo sessions. Many of these pics never saw the light of day…until today.

If you are a photographer, it doesn’t hurt to look back every once in a while and revisit your old work. You’ll be surprised how much life you’ll find in these photos. And boy, my archives are a true Mecca. Sometimes I just keep repeating to myself: “Don’t go there, don’t you dare!!!”, simply because I know darn well how long I’ll spend looking and editing these pictures. Yeah, you do rediscover yourself this way. A little bit of touch up here, some adjustments there, total noise annihilation (Lightroom 3 does a killer job here), and booom! You’ve got a brand new, totally sparkling image! Don’t forget though, you gotta restrain yourself every once in a while – because otherwise new work is going to hit you like a freight train.

Enough said. This post marks the beginning of an ongoing “Rediscover Valdorama” project as I will be digging all kinds of cool images out of the dust. The wedding season is cooling off a bit and I’ve got some really HOT wedding-related surprises for you coming up (did I say HOT!?), but this  particular project is going to be mostly about glam photography.  These are all fantastic girls I had the pleasure photographing a while ago. I had a total blast doing it. The next couple of days I’ll be adding new pictures…  a new girl each day.

It’s late Tuesday night right now, and I am starting with a Maya’s photos. EN-JOYYYY!!!

Day TWO, Wednesday night. Blue eyes. Golden hair. Let there be pink. Let there be Jessica.

Day THREE, three girls. Paige, Rebecca & Monica. Happy Thanksgiving!

Day FOUR & FIVE. Irma, Pt. 1:

Day SIX. Irma, Pt. 2:

…Don’t forget to check the blog every day. More sweet stuff coming up real soon.

Yours truly,

Fun Modeling Photo Session with Markie – New Britain CT

by Val on Oct.04, 2010, under Portrait

A few weeks ago Markie called me on the phone and asked if I’d be game for something not directly wedding related. “Sure”, I said, “I am totally in, let’s do it!”

Markie needed a couple of new photos to freshen up her model portfolio. We picked Walnut Hill Park in New Britain, CT to be our location and went there one day late in the afternoon. The light was just perfect for what we needed – warm and soft. We chose a couple of big trees for props and protection from the sun’s direct rays, then moved to a bench near the fountain on top of the park, then to another place, and another one, and another one. Boy, what an absolute blast we had shooting this session. Need I mention how gorgeous Markie was!?

Last, but definitely not least, I wanted to give my HUGE kudos to the girls at Naomi’s Studio & Salon (SalonNaomi.com) for the fantastic job they did with Markie’s hair and makeup – I can’t say enough good words about it. We could not have made it without you, you guys rock! Totally awesome!

The Cat With (and mostly without) The Hat

by Val on Aug.10, 2010, under Portrait

Hey there everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I needed to test some new equipment and Cat so graciously agreed  to help me out with my Frankenstein trial and error exercises. Boy, what a fun photo session this was! I totally love it when there is no pressure, stress or crazy wedding schedules to follow….  did I say I LOVE IT???

And Cat….   CAT WAS TOTALLY TOTALLY AWESOME! …With and without her cowboy hat :-) I can’t thank her enough for all she did for me. Kudos! Check out the images and enjoy.

Cheers,

Your Pal Val

Zoya & Larissa’s Photos

by Val on Jul.01, 2010, under Portrait

Beautiful beautiful beautiful kids! I recently photographed these two cuties and I just can’t take my eyes off the photos!

I started photographing Zoya a while ago while she was still a baby (check out the 4th photo from this link), and through the years she has turned into one of my favorite kid models. Larissa, Zoya’s younger sister, is a totally different character, but again, so so cute! When I   photograph these two kids, I can never ever get enough of the experience  – they are just so gorgeous, and taking photos of them is just so exhilarating! I hope you get at least a bit of that experience through the photos below.

Enjoy,

Val

Sunset in the Harbor – A Portrait Session With Buba

by Val on Dec.22, 2009, under Portrait

This shoot holds the record for speed and productivity. When the sun is setting, it’s a race with time – you feel like everything is happening at the speed of light. But needless to say, we had tons of fun – and that’s what counts.

Ben’s Portraits

by Val on Dec.22, 2009, under Portrait

You never know what to expect when you photograph someone who has pets. I LOVE pets. And let me tell you, I had a blast with Ben and his cats. As curious and playful as they were, we had them all over the place – even in the umbrellas. Have fun,

Val
