Sarah & Scott’s Engagement Session
by Val on May.28, 2010, under Wedding & Engagement
Hi folks,
Sarah & Scott’s engagement session was an epic one – in a number of ways. We had so many wonderful photo ops – waterfalls, parks, trails… And along the way, I got to know two incredible people – with big hearts and passion for the outdoors and all kinds of cute pets. Wow, what can I say…
The last part of the photo shoot took a slightly different direction from what I traditionally do at e-sessions (outdoor/green, that is). Let me just say that there is nothing sexier in the world than an airplane. …Well, there actually is, but that’s a different story :-) I always wanted to incorporate planes into my wedding photography and this time things lined up perfectly.
HUGE thanks to Mary Caravella and her husband for so graciously making things happen for us at the Skylark Airpark in Ellington/Somers. Kudos! Here’s what came out:
I am so so excited about Sarah and Scott and can’t wait for the wedding. You guys were awesome!
See you around,
- Val
Canstruction Photography @ the CT Science Center
by Val on May.27, 2010, under General
Hi Everyone,
This post is going to be slightly different from my usual wedding photography ranting. Along with Stop & Shop, JJ Promotions, Quest, to name a few, Valdorama recently sponsored a wonderful group of Braeburn Elementary School kids led by Pickard Chilton Architects and united around the idea to help the victims of the destructive Haiti earthquake. The effort was a part of the Canstruction event hosted at the CT Science Center. I was there to cover the event and take photos of the entire process of building a ship using only one material – cans.
Needless to say, it was totally breathtaking to watch these kids working so hard and pouring their heart and soul into what they were doing. The result was nothing short of phenomenal. Check it out for yourself:
Earth Day Photo Contest – WINNERS
by Val on May.04, 2010, under Landscapes
Hello my friends and green supporters,
This is the first year Valdorama is organizing the Earth Day Photo contest and it’s been an awesome feeling to have such a great turnaround. We had some truly exceptional images. I’d like to personally thank every single one of you for your participation and support – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This contest was much more than just a local CT photography event, it had a strong symbolic meaning. I truly hope we can repeat it again and turn it into a tradition.
And since I know you are eager to find out who gets the awards, I am switching to that right away. We had runner up photos that were very very strong. Congratulations to Olga Petkova, Ellen Whelan, Dani Hristova and William Donovan for the fantastic photos – you guys rock!
…Aaaand the winner is…. Actually not one, but two of the images were standing out of the rest and were competing very closely with each other. After quite a bit of thought, I decided to give the first place to both of them. It is my sincere pleasure to congratulate their authors, JOHN MURPHY and MAYA YANKOVA for the outstanding job! Their images stood out in every single respect. Kudos! Don’t hesitate to contact me so that we can arrange the details about your free artistic outdoor portrait sessions with Valdorama. I am so excited!
Once again, the idea of the Earth Day Photo Contest was to generate awareness for the beauty surrounding us so that we can preserve these resources for our own kids and future generations. I wanted to collect and show images of our Earth in its pristine beauty, still untouched by human hands. Images with strong impact, images that generate feelings and make us think. And speaking of images, here we go. Enjoy!
